Overview

Once great adversaries of shifter and vampire, hunting down the blood thirsty and public menaces of the lot, hunters are now peacekeepers and known as guardians. Oh, they will still kill without hesitation if someone steps a toe out of line but their job description has changed a bit and grown.

They are now meant to help keep the peace between the factions that have a habit of starting wars with each other. This often leads to human casualties and risks exposing the existence of those that like being left alone. No one wants to become a lab rat or hunted relentlessly like the old days so it's the guardians' job to keep humans from noticing anything amiss. Guardians are essentially the supernatural equivalent of the police, watching over their designated city and cleaning up any major messes that might occur.

Not just anyone can become a member of The Society. Most are born into it, coming from long lines that were blessed (or cursed depending on point of view) with the ability to keep up with their prey. When it comes to recruiting, The Society prefers mages as it helps to monitor the magic users and ensure nothing illegal is going on. Shifters and vampires typically don’t apply as they tend to stick with their own kind, but if they do, they typically aren’t let in due to overall trust issues between the factions.

Guardians are built for a fight. They are trained fighters in whichever form of martial arts or hand to hand combat they choose in case their preferred weapon attack fails them. Those born into the original bloodlines have slightly quicker reflexes and night vision than a normal human given their targets are typically more active at night. They typically don't have any magic of their own and rely on the devices the Techno-Mages create.

Mages that are recruited into service are expected to train in physical areas as much as their counterparts in case a Null Mage or bomb goes off and they can't use their magic.

An extra addition to the team that many begrudgingly accept is a lower ranking master with a small family of his/her own works with the Guardians. They help alter memories of mundane witnesses and wipe cell phone videos/photos.

General Class Info

  • Races:
    • Common: Mundanes, Mages, Shifters
    • Rare: Vampires and Werewolves

Requirements

  • Physical Strength
    • Especially important for the Mundane Guardian; they will never be as strong as the average preternatural so it is important for them to maintain their strength and agility to the best of hteir abilities.
  • Intelligence
    • Fight smarter, not harder. There are tests and schooling that is required to become a Guardian that keeps some of the less intelligent from making the cut.
  • Street Smart
    • Its important to know one's homebase, but also the people that live in it. Being able to move about on the streets without causing undue attention is of particular importance.
  • Combat Knowledge
    • Most Guardians are trained in multiple forms of self defence and hand to hand combat.
