You were always told as a child that there were things that went bump in the night and you were inclined to believe the teller of the tales as they were older and knew everything. That is until you yourself got a little older and knew all those stories were only there to scare you and get you home at night for your curfew.

    But there’s always a little truth behind each story that’s passed on throughout the years and all those tales of vampires, werewolves, and practitioners of magic hold more truth than most know.

    Hidden among the bustling streets and thriving businesses lurk the creatures of lore. Most blend right into a crowd and go unnoticed by those who know not what to look for, but they’re always there in the shadows, going to school, or even having a drink at the table next to yours.

    Currently an uneasy truce has kept everyone playing nice--mostly. As each year passes, tensions rise as the rowdier ones on any side chafe at the bit and long to be free from restrictions on their kind. The fact that The Society’s Guardians are what’s keeping them in line by upholding the agreement each faction (the vampires' Senate, the Council of Shifters, and the mages' Conclave) signed doesn't sit well either. They're just humans and mages. Easy enough to eradicate and take control once more.

    Each ruling body likes to think they are still in charge and play along with the truce but shady dealings aren't beneath any of them if it helps ensure their reign at the top continues. Most of their subjects, however, just want to live their lives and do that whole going unnoticed thing.

    Preternatural beings continue to flock to Greenbrooke not because it's a safe haven but for it being a large city they can easily blend into. The fact that it sits atop a major crossroad of ley lines which increases magic is a nice perk to some.

    As those populations continue to grow, it's only a matter of time before the secret can no longer be protected and the truth emerges.
