Audrey’s blushing and bumbling was adorable. Rhys couldn’t help but smile the entire time she explained herself by showing a cup (which he assumed meant she worked at Starbucks) and then dug around for a chocolate to give him. He wasn’t a fan of sweets but he still accepted the chocolate graciously, unwrapping it, and popping the little milk chocolate heart in his mouth. A little piece here and there was fine but he normally didn’t go out of his way for a sweet treat. Even still, he could tell it was of higher quality given both the taste and the easy way it started to melt on his tongue, causing him to give a small moan of appreciation.
After a moment, he swallowed the treat, running his tongue along his teeth in an effort to remove any lingering evidence of his snack. “If no one’s waiting for you at home and you aren’t too tired from your shift, I’d like to ask you to spend some more time with me. I was just going to wander around aimlessly for a while so you can join me in that or if you’re hungry, we can get something to eat.” Did he sound desperate? He hoped not. Audrey was intriguing and he wanted to know more about her. And maybe see where the attraction between them took them. He wasn’t looking for a relationship, so he’d have to make that clear if something took off between them but he didn’t just want to do a one night stand either since there was something sweet about the woman before him.
“Whatever you want to do since I’m trying to capture your attention for a while longer.” He flashed her another smile, perhaps relying a bit more than usual on his appearance. “Also, confession: Valentine’s Day was also my birthday and I didn’t do anything for it so while I don’t want to guilt you into spending time with me, I would be honoured if you helped me celebrate a bit late.”
