A new Turn brings new life for Ista Weyr. While Thread continues to threaten overhead, Gold Isolth's Crystal Class and Gold Valoith's Mythos Class grow by the day. In the dark depths of the Wherhandler Barracks, Black Eanzesk broods over her newly-clutched eggs. In no time at all, she will be daring all of Ista's wher candidates to step forth and try to claim one.
Meanwhile, recent transfers from rivaling Igen Weyr are struggling to integrate with the Istan culture. Tensions arise from this attempt at a diplomatic exchange, and some are doubting the Weyrleaderships' decision to trade good Istan dragonfolk for lying Igenites.
In the background of it all, Renegades wreak havoc on Ista Island's travelers. After the recent tithe train attack, it becomes clear that not even the large trader caravans are safe. What do these violent upstarts want? What message are they trying to send with their killings? The Weyr and Hold Guards will need to tread carefully on their scouting missions, and travelers are advised to seek dragon transportation whenever possible.
