Preferred Pronouns:

Date of Birth:

Current Age:
199 years old

Assumed Pronouns:
He | Him

Horse Trainer; Willows Pack Alpha

Occupation Indepth:
James has a large property called the Lazy Willows Ranch where he breeds and trains horses (and occasionally teaches riders if asked). He's been known to host trail rides and little mini rodeo events for corporations as well, but in general does not keep the property open to the public. Appointments only for visitors.

Eye Colour:

Hair Colour:

General Dressing Style:
James cleans up rather well, though he tries his best to avoid it if he can and sticks to jeans and durable work shirts. Even his shoes are all utilitarian, and he doesn't so much own dress shoes as he has a pair of black boots that he keeps shiny and polished for occasions.

General Description:
James stands about at 5’11” tall and is rather fit, broad through the shoulder and narrow at the hip, he has long legs and long arms. He has a rather square, strong jaw that is generally clean shaven with high cheekbones. His hair is a darker brown and tends to be shorter along the sides and longer on the top. His eyes are normally a clear blue that contrast nicely with that dark hair, they’re almond shaped and surrounded by thick lashes.
He has a few scars from before he was turned, mostly cuts on his arms and the stray gun shot, and a particularly nasty scar on his left bicep when he was a little too slow and got snagged on a bull’s horn.

Werewolf Description:
James resembles an oversized Mexican Wolf, with a dark salt and pepper back on top of red hued sides and long tawny legs. He has an especially feral and ragged appearance to him, always on the shaggy side no matter the season (though his fluffiness becomes noticeably worse in the winter). His eyes become a rich orangey amber.

Getting Away with Stuff

Being Called Jim
Needless Violence
The Color Pink
Nosy People

Denies His Own Feelings
Personally Reckless

Habits, Mannerisms & Quirks:
Frowns when he listens or is thinking, even when he's not particularly upset by anything, and even when he's thinking about happy memories and moments. It's just what his face does. He speaks a tad slowly and with a bit of a twangy southern drawl that he's never been able to shake. He still uses quite outdated slang terms.

General Personality:
Outwardly easy going and rakish, James likes to think he’s personable and friendly without being a pushover. He’s assertive without being pushy and while he doesn’t mind doing things when asked, or even ordered to when it makes sense and isn't disrespectful, he hates feeling pushed around and rudeness in general. He loves practical jokes, though he thinks a broad range of things are funny. So long as people don’t get hurt he’s usually fine with it. He’s gotten better about his own antics since he’s had time to mature a bit, but he finds it hard to discourage others from nefarious deeds.
James is bold and daring when it comes to physical danger to the point that some people might think he’s reckless. He’s much more timid about his personal life, and keeps his feelings about things to himself. He hates people being nosy about his business. He's also fiercely protective of his pack, and is quite capable of extreme violence either as a man or a wolf when push comes to shove. He has general irreverence for the law but tries to be a good person in general.

None alive.

None currently.

Technically some of the crimes he committed don't have a statue of limitations so he's still wanted. He does not talk about his misspent criminal years much.
Actually has read the short story it's based off of and found it sad.

Never call him Jim.
Gay cowboy who has never seen Brokeback Mountain and refuses to see it since so many people keep asking if he has.

In addition to having been a werewolf for many, many years and learning to use his shape shifting abilities in combat and downright criminal capacity, James is an excellent marksman and general fighter. He's good with horses and has occasionally participated in the rodeo to keep his old ranch and rustling skills sharp. He has uncanny balance and physical coordination, and is especially good at staying on top of moving things.

Important History:
James started out life in the heart of Texas in the 1820’s along the Brazos River in a small settlement. He was a rowdy child, the son of a werewolf who had been a member of a roving pack of cattle rustlers, horse thieves, and ne’er do wells. His father had died when he was very young, but the pack always came by frequently under the cover of night to check on him and his mother, and to facilitate his mischief. By the time he was old enough to ride a horse he was helping them with smaller local crimes; he learned to be reliable under pressure, keep a cool head, and trust his instincts and think on his feet. As a teenager he left home to join them on bigger jobs, always pulling his weight and boldly volunteering for risky tasks.
As soon as the alpha deemed he was ready he was turned and made a proper member of the gang and pack. After some initial fighting and jockeying for his place in the pack, it didn’t take long for him to get control of himself as a wolf. It came naturally and as far as James was concerned, the gang was just a family out to have fun, doing largely harmless crimes. He always discouraged violence, never did more than shoot around or over the heads of those who chased them. Thinking he was a shitty shot, the gang made him practice with his six shooters over and over again before they realized he was missing on purpose and declared him a pansy.
Things went downhill from there, the rest of the pack kept trying to push him towards more violent acts. He was young and foolish and eventually folded under the pressure, becoming a killer more than a dashing cattle rustler. Things came to a head during the early years of the Civil War, and after an incident with the alpha, James fled the pack, running south and crossing the border into Mexico. He drifted for a short while on his own, spending his time either deep in a bottle of tequila or out in the middle of nowhere before he found another pack.
By the time the Civil War ended he’d grown bored and dissatisfied. He made his way to the Texas panhandle where he joined another pack and used the skills he’d learned as a rustler to help work the ranch the pack alpha owned. It was fine and all for a while, but he ran into trouble when they kept encouraging him to settle down with a nice lady. His resistance to the idea and eventual reveal of his homosexuality led to another fight, and this time, James didn't hold back. He killed the alpha and just like back in the old days ended up hightailing it out and dodging the law.
This time instead of heading south, James decided to cross the northern border. He ended up settling in some land outside of what would later become Greenbrooke, and through a mix of luck and clever land deals made more than enough money to comfortably live on. His remaining land, which the eponymous Green Brook runs through, has turned into a ranch and refuge for his pack, as well as a source of additional income through the horses that he breeds and trains.
