The latest craze in the party drug scene is V. These are gel capsules that have 1-5 drops of blood in them. Less drops means less of a high and cheaper to buy. It gets the name V from the way it's marketed to humans as if they are vampires. Mundanes and even the preternaturally aware humans believe it's only coloured red and not actually blood. Depending on the strength, one pill lasts for 3-8 hours and hits you within 15 minutes of taking it. It's very much akin to ecstasy where it leaves you in a state of euphoric bliss with energy to burn--likely on sex. It's also highly addictive, especially in the higher dosages.
Taking V regularly will not turn you into a vampire, even if a vampire happens to feed from you. The process of Turning is a bit more detailed than that--or, at the very least, needs most of your blood drained and replaced.
Dark mages are typically the creators and likely have captured a vampire and use them as a source for their production. It's an easy way to make money while also allowing them to mess around with what else the blood of a vampire might be able to do in potions and spells.
Some vampires may get into the trade themselves for their own variety of reasons. An example: Rafe will start his own mini business, using some of his humans already in his employ to give/sell to people they think would be a good fit as employees of his club or as feeders to keep on hand for his Family.
Vampires that are strong in mental gifts (picking the master vampire skills in that area) can have a connection to the humans that take it. In general, a human already forms a bit of a connection from the blood, but that is coming directly from the source and in larger quantities. Please note, just because your character is addicted to V, doesn't necessarily mean they will have a connection to the donor. However, it will likely make them more susceptible to suggestions from that vampire if they should cross paths.
